Priorities
If we had directed all the money the U.S. spent occupying Iraq this past weekend (three days) towards treating malaria and its causes, we could virtually wipe it out and save two million lives a year.
Sometimes, peace studies is really depressing.

Sorry to be the biggest pessimist in the world, but consider how much more quickly the world would become over-populated if we had saved those two million people each year instead of...
Then again, maybe we could spend money on making the moon inhabitable or something.

Yes, you are the biggest pessimist in the world. And I love how you only have a name by relation.
OK, yes, I'm operating on the assumption that saving people is generally a *good* idea. But if we had taken all the money that's been spent in Iraq ($100 billion) and invested it in the infrastructure of the under-developed world, I bet we could not only somewhat mitigate the problems of overpopulation, but also slow birth rates.
