Bookworms
We'd have our change of hope and fear,
Small quarrels, reconcilements sweet:
I'd perch by you to chirp and cheer,
Or hop about on active feet
And fetch you dainty bits to eat.
-Christina Rossetti, "Child's Talk In April"
I've always been a bit of a browser when I go to the library. I usually go with a list, maybe some ideas, of books I want, but I invariably end up cruising the aisles aimlessly, looking for anything that catches my eye.
Sometimes I feel like Emerson, picking a book off the shelf, skimming through it quickly, searching, hoping for some momentary inspiration. Sometimes I feel like a kid, impressed by a shiny cover or large, glossy photographs. Sometimes I feel like a nerd, sitting on the floor, trying to wrap my head around subjects I haven't the faintest background in. But always-- always-- I leave with more books, and differents books, then what I set out for.
Today, I went to the library, looking for books on human rights. I found one: Human Rights and Revolutions. It's nice, and what I was looking for. And I left the library.

My new favorite word is "disincarnates." For now, anyway.
In addition, though I like to think that I despise reading, I love libraries, and I love doing the wandering...But those are things. It's like grocery shopping for me. And grocery shopping (see also: Trader Joe's/bliss) for me is like Pringles or Lays. You can't eat just one. Once you pop, you can't stop. Etc.
